Sierra Tango Foxtrot, Anna Brownsted

Sierra Tango Foxtrot was a site-responsive sound installation set in the atmospheric tunnels of Landguard Fort. UK-based American artist Anna Brownsted temporarily transformed several adjoining rooms into an immersive environment where the past collided with the present as time expanded, contracted, and circled in on itself.

With references spanning socio-political histories, the charged architecture of the Fort itself and the artist’s own familial military connections, the installation featured seating made from military sandbags and a collage of meditative soundscapes using local field recordings and archival broadcasts. Visitors were invited to sit, listen, and dwell within these ambient spaces.
